She was taught how to clean the bedroom (changing bed sheets, blanket covers, pillowcases …), how to clean the bathroom and dust the surfaces.

Practicing in three different departments has given me a completely new perspective. Understand how a hotel works and operates, as well as how departments collaborate and help one another to complete tasks as efficiently as possible.

When customers complain, handle the situation as soon as possible.

The second is the reception department, which, like serving a restaurant, must always be open to customers and flexible in handling situations because a receptionist represents the face of the hotel. Furthermore, good communication skills, behavior, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are required because the work requires attention to detail and high accuracy. The receptionist is extremely important because every gesture, action, and job performed by the receptionist will determine the hotel’s future revenue.

Finally, there’s the room department. This is a crucial component. Working as a room staffer necessitates extreme attention to detail and patience. Health is especially important during busy days, when the workload is quite heavy, requiring employees to work continuously.

I was able to perform all of the basic jobs of a receptionist, room and restaurant service with the dedicated guidance of the department’s head and the other staff members. The practical lessons will be extremely beneficial to me, as they will aid in the development of soft skills such as problem – solving, communication skills, teamwork…

The school, especially the internship instructor, has been extremely helpful in ensuring that I complete the internship successfully. I had the opportunity to practice in a completely new environment outside of university during my 5-week internship at Rum Vang II Hotel. There are practical experiences that will be extremely beneficial to me after graduation. Simultaneously, I have developed soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and how to handle customer-related situations appropriately. I have the opportunity to work in all three departments, including those of a receptionist, a restaurant waiter, and a house keeper. In addition, I received a lot of assistance from the hotel, the management all the staff  who were dedicated to instructing and guiding me in order to complete my job well. At the same time, the hotel side has greatly aided me in being able to choose a flexible internship time, as I still have a school schedule during the internship.

Because of the time I practiced during the Covid 19 , I had few opportunities to contact and communicate with foreign guests in order to improve my English communication skills. Furthermore, with only about 5 weeks of practice, the time is limited, so I haven’t had a chance to learn a lot of knowledge and how the departments work. Furthermore, the hotel is a professional working environment, with everyone having prior experience on the job. I am a student with a lack of skills at work, so I do not always complete the job as expected.
